Sf. Croix: G.E.R.S. Town Hall Meeting

Why doesn't G.E.R.S include non-government workers with tailored polices for each new member, ex: for small business owners and their workers, independent contractors, artisans, entertainers, etc.? Suggestion: The G.E.R.S owned Carambola property can be profitably operated, serviced, furnished, supplied, etc., by GERS membership, in addition, recycling the profits here on St. Croix. Carambola is located in our most pristine green space here on St.Croix. The World traveling trend is growing in EcoTourism, so we should be targeting environmental groups,organizations, hiking associations, naturalist, who are looking for a more wilderness experience. Feedback: Not to mention the feel of total discuss with how our government officials have handle this crisis, I left the meeting disappointed that my question was not asked and the response to my suggestion was a brush off. Their retort, at this point in time, the System would need an exit plan if the projects were not successful. This response was pretty much the same answer to any question for G.E.R.S to support any proposal to financing businesses that would create jobs and businesses that the membership would support ex: gas stations, supermarkets, taxi service, and casinos. An exit plan, their plan seems to be that if the government doesn't meet their obligations and there is no influx of new membership and revenues, that all G.E.R.S assets would have to be liquidated. Now, if that is the case, my suggestion and others could be implemented, and if unsuccessful, then selling the property would be understandable. The financial status of Carambola wasn't given, if it is not losing the System money than why sell. In fact, the chairman was very defensive when it was suggested that the Carambola property would be sold at a loss. The crucial question here is ,where to go from here?
