Texas College To Host Religious Emphasis Week

Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on February 09, 2018 Texas College will be “kicking-off” their Religious Emphasis Week with an ecumenical worship Sunday, February 11th, at 4:00 P.M. The event will be held in the Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium. Texas College was founded by a group of Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) ministers to provide not only academic development, but spiritual development as well; thus, Religious Emphasis Week is vital to the institution as they believe they are operating within the founding principles of the college. By hosting the ecumenical worship, Texas College invites not only the Tyler community, but the East Texas community, faculty/ staff, alumni, current students, friends, and family of the college. The College will host a schedule of events for the week. Below are some events that may be of interest. Sunday, February 11, 2018 * Ecumenical Worship 4:00 p.m. Gus F. Taylor Gymnasium Monday, February 12, 2018 * Community Church Fair 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Connector (Texas College Campus) * Community Service Outreach with the Salvation Army 1 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Salvation Army Tuesday, February 13, 2018 * Outreach Ministry Fair 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Connector The aforementioned events are free and open to the public. About Texas College (TC) Celebrating over 120 years of providing educational opportunities, Texas College is a historical black college founded in 1894, by a group of CME ministers. Our mission, which continues to embody the principles of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, is to ensure that the student body experiences balanced intellectual, psychological, social and spiritual development, aimed at enabling them to become active productive members of society where they live and work.
