Call for Applications: UC Berkeley's Summer STITUTE in Environmental Design

Posted By: christine bradley on February 12, 2018

Summer [IN]STITUTE in Environmental Design
July 2-August 10

Is architecture, urban planning or landscape architecture the right career path for you?

UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design is excited to announce that the 2018 Summer [IN]STITUTE is now accepting applications.

The Institute is an intensive six week summer program on the Berkeley campus that gives students the opportunity to test their enthusiasm for the material and culture of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture.

Participants in the Institute explore the methods and theories of the fields, experience the culture of design and planning studios, connect to top faculty and practitioners, and build a polished portfolio for graduate school application.

Each program includes a lecture series, a design or planning studio, a seminar or media course, and site visits. After fulfilling the program requirements, participants receive a certificate of completion and an official UC Berkeley transcript.

All classes are held in Wurster Hall, CED's home on the UC Berkeley campus.

The Summer Programs Office is committed to increasing the accessibility and diversity of the environmental design discipline. We welcome applications from members of underrepresented groups.

Submit your Summer Institute application here: cedberkeley.slideroom.com.

We also offer summer design programs for youth (embARC Summer Design Academy) and current college students (Disc*: Design & Innovation for Sustainable Cities). Need-based schoalrshops are available for all our programs.
