#CoupleOfPanthers: Chernitra ‘99 and Christopher Kyle ‘97
|
Posted By: How May I Help You NC on February 13, 2018 Christopher and Chernitra Kyle met at freshman orientation in 1992 while she was moving into her room in Collins/Suarez Hall; her roommate just happened to be the friend he was visiting. After five years of dating, on Feb. 8, 2001, Chris proposed to her and they married June 8, 2002. Fifteen years later, they are very much in love and are parents of two children. Check out Christopher and Chernitra’s Q&A below. What does love mean to you? Chris: To me, love means true commitment, sacrifice, choice, trust, unconditional, and never-ending. What has marriage taught you? Nitra: Marriage has taught me endurance. There are valleys and mountains in marriage and in the 15 years we have been married I have learned that no matter if we are in the valley or the mountain as long as we are together, we will make it. What is your favorite thing about your spouse? Chris: Her passion, drive, and spirit. It shows in everything she does. How has PVAMU played a role in your lives? Chris: PV is where we met and became friends. We blossomed at PVAMU into who we are today. I knew she was the one and has this feeling it would happen someday. Nitra: Initially, I wanted to Howard University, but my father said no! Without out PVAMU, there would be no us. When we met, we clicked! Describe your spouse in three words? Chris – • Fighter: stands on the Bible and fights for everything she is passionate about • Irreplaceable: God made us for one another. Our purpose is great, and our plan was laid out before we knew it • Captivating: she caught my eye from day one and still does Nitra – • Encourager: even when I know I have not done my best, he is there tell me that I have done well • Selfless: he will go without so my daughters and myself will have • Listener: no matter what I say, he listens, even when I make him mad, he listens to me http://www.pvamu.edu/ If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
