Coahoma Football worked hard from sunrise to sunset on National Signing Day. Head Coach Steven Miller and his coaching staff have come up big in bringing in some of the best talent in America. The program has signed 25 prospects in the recruiting class of 2018.

It takes a team effort to convince athletes far and wide that Coahoma Community College is the place to be. Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Charles Lee has been through the recruiting wars for a long time. He knows that recruiters must work harder than the next man to get the best player their heart's desire.

“It’s a stressful day in the beginning. You never know what a 17, 18 or 19 year old is thinking,” said Lee. “The most important thing is to get that Letter of Intent faxed to us.”

16 prospects signed on National Signing Day. These recruits decided to be a part of the “Rise of Tiger Nation.”

Jordan Willis is a Running Back (6-1, 205 LBS) from Mendenhall High School (Mendenhall, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 5 in Class 4A).

Peyton McDonald is a Tight End (6-3, 225 LBS) from Pearl High School (Pearl, MS). He was a member of the 2017 Class 6A State Championship team.

Noah Ford is an Offensive Lineman (6’5, 265 LBS) from East Union High School (Blue Springs, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 1 in Class 2A).

Patrick Price is a Running Back (6’1, 180 LBS) from Loyd Star High School (Brookhaven, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 7 in Class 2A).

Ken Ware is a Defensive Back (6’1, 185 LBS) from Rosa Fort High School (Tunica, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 1 in Class 4A).

Quinshawn Lucious is a Wide Receiver (6’1, 180 LBS) from West Lowndes High School (Columbus, MS). He was 1st Team All-State in Class 1A and 1st Team All-Region (Region 3 in Class 1A).

Bobby Ellzey is a Defensive Back (6’1, 180 LBS) from South Pike High School (McComb, MS). He was 2nd Team All-State in Class 4A and 1st Team All-Region (Region 6 in Class 4A).

Dangelo Dixon is a Tight End (6’3, 220 LBS) from Vicksburg High School (Vicksburg, MS). He was 2nd Team All-Region (Region 2 in Class 5A).

Deangelo Scales is a Defensive Back (6’1, 185 LBS) from Starkville High School (Starkville, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 2 in Class 6A).

JaMon O'Neal is a Linebacker (6’2, 220 LBS) from Vicksburg High School (Vicksburg, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 2 in Class 5A).

Joe Johnson is a Quarterback (6’1, 205 LBS) from Vicksburg High School (Vicksburg, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 2 in Class 5A). He is also rated the #2 Quarterback in the state of Mississippi.

Chasten Lamb is a Kicker (6’1, 175 LBS) from Florence High School (Florence, MS).

KeDarius Edwards is a Defensive Lineman (6’4, 220 LBS) from Leflore County High School (Itta Bena, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 2 in Class 2A).

Darius McClung is a Quarterback (5’10, 175 LBS) from Leflore County High School (Itta Bena, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 2 in Class 2A).

De'Teyvion Butler is a Linebacker (6’1, 220 LBS) from Cleveland Central High School (Cleveland, MS).

Will Robinson is a Linebacker (6’2, 210 LBS) from Hattiesburg High School (Hattiesburg, MS) He was 1st Team All-State in Class 5A, 1st Team All-Region (Region 4 in Class 5A) and played in the MS/Ala All-Star Game.

Nine prospects were signed in December 2017 and are currently enrolled in classes at Coahoma Community College. Three of which are transfers from another school.

Eric Trask is an Offensive Lineman (6’3, 290 LBS) from Wilkinson County High School.

(Woodville, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 7 in Class 3A).

Bo Curtis is a Linebacker (6’2, 200 LBS) from Charleston High School (Charleston, MS). He was 1st Team All-State in Class 3A.



Dequan Street is a Defensive Back (6’0, 175 LBS) from Charleston High School (Charleston, MS). He was 1st Team All-Region (Region 3 in Class 3A).

Zarious Johnson is an Outside Linebacker/Wide Receiver (6’2, 225 LBS) from Independence High School (Coldwater, MS).

Braxton Bailey is a Defensive Lineman (6’2, 240 LBS) from Clinton High School (Clinton, MS).

Legaryonn Carson is a Defensive Lineman (6’5, 260 LBS) from Liberty-Eylau High School (Texarkana, TX). He was in the ESPN Top 300 Prospects, 4 Star Prospect and formally committed to the University of Texas.

Demetric Vance Jr. is a Defensive Back (6’2, 200 LBS) from Cass Technical High School (Detroit, MI). He’s a transfer from Michigan State University. He participated in the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Donnie Corley is a Wide Receiver (6’2, 190 LBS) from Martin Luther King High School (Detroit, MI). He’s a transfer from Michigan State University. He participated in the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Josh King is a Defensive Lineman (6’6, 260 LBS) from Hinsdale South High School (Darien, Illinois). He’s a transfer from Michigan State University. He participated in the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Coahoma Football also had their active players signing scholarships to four-year universities. The Tigers were very talented, hardworking and dedicated to Coahoma Community College.

Josh Johnson (Running Back) signed to the University of Mississippi.

Cecil Cherry (Linebacker) signed to Grambling State University.

Davion Taylor (Linebacker) signed to the University of Colorado.

C.T. Williams (Offensive Line) signed to the University of Arkansas-Monticello.

Jordan Harris (Offensive Line) signed to Valdosta State University.

Trey Mitchell (Quarterback) signed to East Tennessee State University.

Randell Johnson (Defensive Back) signed to the University of Arkansas- Pine Bluff.

Eric Moore (Wide Receiver) signed to Western Illinois University.

Maurice Collins and Allen Winford (Offensive Line) signed to Mississippi Valley State University.

Josh Joiner (Linebacker), Deshun Gibson (Tight End) and Jamal Bailey (Offensive Line) signed to Southwestern College (KS).

Jashon Foster (Wide Receiver) and Daveon Brister (Defensive Lineman) signed with Bethune - Cookman University.

Braxton Brown (Defensive Back), Devin Griffin (Wide Receiver) and Quay Hollins (Linebacker) signed to Texas Wesleyan University.

Coach Lee knows the hard work is not done, but it’s just the beginning. “The recruiting is not over yet because now you look for a bounce back,” said Lee. “We got some out of state recruits that we feel good about. We really feel good about the upcoming season and closing in on the season opener against Jones County.”

Coach Miller was very excited about his recruiting class and feel confident that they will step up immediately.

“Signing Day was different this year,” said Miller. “We targeted recruits to replace a lot of our departing players from the previous year. We had a great day for our program at Coahoma Community College.”

Coahoma Football will be conducting walk-on tryouts Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at 1 p.m., at James E. Miller Stadium on CCC's Clarksdale campus.

Interested athletes should bring a current physical from their high school or official documentation from their healthcare provider (doctors office) only. Additionally, participants will need to provide proof of personal insurance or pay a $25 fee (cash only) to receive coverage for the event.
