Internship Opportunities with The Cincinnati Museum Center!

Cincinnati Museum Center Internships offer a wide array of learning opportunities and hands-on, practical experiences. Eligible candidates considering an internship are defined as individuals who meet one or more of the following criteria:

• will be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year
• have graduated within the past year
• are currently enrolled in graduate school

The time commitment for internships is a total of 10 weeks, unless indicated otherwise in the position description. Shifts are flexible and depend on assignment. These positions are unpaid, but include a selection of benefits provided to all Cincinnati Museum Center volunteers.

Internship Benefits
Although Cincinnati Museum Center internships are unpaid, many students earn academic credit for their dynamic and rewarding experience, in addition to the following benefits:

Summer Internships are June 4th, 2018 – August 10th, 2018 - Application deadline is March 16th, 2018


Internship Positions

AV Collection Cataloger/Curatorial Intern - Assist Audio-Visual Curator with collections management project, researching and updating use fee structure and cataloging small photograph collections.

Cataloger/Curator Intern – Zoology - Assist Zoology Curator with processing and cataloguing specimens while learning curatorial methods applicable to biological and general collections.

Community Engagement Intern – Assist with the planning, implementation and promotion of 1940s Day.



Work with community partners and with various departments within Cincinnati Museum Center to develop creative and fun concepts for this annual event.

Group Marketing Intern - Assist with sales and marketing efforts for groups of all types while learning skills and processes associated with audience research, guest service, salesmanship, data management, graphic design, copy editing and other related business skills.

Marketing/Communications Intern - Assist Marketing and Communications team with messaging and promotion of CMC exhibits, events and programs through PR campaigns, media blitzes, social media campaigns and CMC website management.

Museum Camp Intern - Summer Museum Camps Interns will work at Museum Camps throughout the summer (both at Cincinnati Museum Center and at offsite locations) and will assist Coordinators with supervision and teaching of campers and organizing paperwork, materials and supplies.

Philanthropy Intern - Assist with the Annual Report. Work with Philanthropy team and others in the organization to determine a theme and key information needed for the FY17 Annual Report, gather that information and prepare a summary document for easy reference throughout the writing of the Annual Report and the coming year. Work closely with the Manager of Donor Engagement to manage the project.

Public Safety Intern - Assist with the security and public safety at all of the Museum facilities. Patrol inside the museums, exhibits, and CMC grounds. Monitor video surveillance, alarm systems, and respond to emergencies. Provide a safe, hospitable and engaging environment for our patrons, guests, and staff to enjoy.

Social Media Intern – Assist in monitoring and responding to comments and questions as needed on various social media accounts; managing daily content and images; attend CMC events and programs to capture images for social media channels; assist with institutional projects.

Street Team Intern - Bring Museum Center closer to the Cincinnati community by actively engaging community members at street fairs and festivals through educational experiences. Present programming that generates excitement about science and local history. Take the museum out of exhibit halls and bring it to the streets by putting educational tools and resources in the hands and minds of local communities.

Video Data Intern – Inventory a backlog of digital files; organize and tag video files; consolidate and delete duplicate or unneeded files; occasionally serve as production assistant on video shoots.
