MVSU to host Graduate Expo March 1
|
Posted By: Hija Chang on February 27, 2018 FEATURED Content Why should you consider an advanced degree? How will you finance your graduate education? What program of study is the best fit for you? For the answer to these questions and many more, attend Mississippi Valley State University’s Graduate Studies Expo to be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the William A. Butts Social Science Auditorium on the campus of MVSU. The expo is a free event. Assistant Professor Dr. Sherill Morris-Francis, graduate coordinator for MVSU’s Criminal Justice program as well as chair of the Graduate Council, said the expo is great opportunity for individuals to learn more about advanced degree options at MVSU. “The purpose of the graduate expo is to showcase what Valley has to offer to our community in and around the Delta. We are inviting persons who are in the workforce, persons who have just graduated with a bachelor’s degree, or even those who have been in the workforce for a long time and thinking it’s time to go back and do something,” said Morris-Francis. There are currently eleven graduate programs offered through eight academic departments, including two completely online degree programs—Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Criminal Justice. The expo is an opportunity for interested students to explore their options, to speak one-on-one with program staff, admissions, and financial aid counselors, and to get a head start on the application process. The priority date for graduate school applications for Fall 2018 is Mar. 15, 2018. The priority date for the Spring 2019 admission is Oct. 15. “The faculty is trained experts in their respective fields, and we are here willing to work with our students. We have small classes, so we get to know our students and we do all that we can to help them achieve their goals,” said Morris-Francis. You don’t have to do graduate work anywhere else; we have it right here at The Valley.” Graduate programs available at MVSU include: Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Criminal Justice, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Science in Elementary Education, Master of Science in Special Education, Master of Science in Sports Administration, Master of Arts in Convergent Media, Master of Science in Bioinformatics, Master of Science in Environmental Health, Master of Arts in Rural Public Policy and Planning and Master of Social Work.
