Concordia College set to close; Alabama State University Will Visit To Support Faculty / Students

Concordia College set to close; Alabama State University Will Visit To Support Faculty / Students
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on March 14, 2018

On Thursday (March 15), representatives from Alabama State University will travel to Selma, Ala., in support of the administration and students of Concordia College.

“We were, of course, saddened to hear the news about the pending closing of Concordia College,” said ASU President Quinton T. Ross, Jr. “Concordia has served West Alabama for nearly 100 years, and we applaud the college’s accomplishments as an institution of higher learning. As a sister institution, Alabama State University is committed to providing support to Concordia students who are looking to complete their degrees.

We want to ease the transition for these students and help them to find a new home at Alabama State University.”

ASU admissions director Freddie Williams, Jr., said his department will work with other areas across the campus so that every effort is made to showcase all that ASU has to offer to Concordia's students.

“We will have representatives from each of the University’s colleges on hand to answer questions about the more than 50 degrees that are offered at ASU,” said Williams. “All of us are aware of how important it is to ease the transition for these students. There are several benefits to their choosing ASU as their new home, including our excellent programs, potential savings because they would now be attending a public institution and our proximity to Selma.”

The ASU team will be on the Concordia College campus from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday.
