|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on April 06, 2018 The James B. Duke Memorial Library partners with Discovery Place Education Studio, Makerspace Charlotte and Apple to host a full-day conference April 13, 2018, giving Charlotte and particularly under-served West Side tech entrepreneurs the opportunity for hands-on experience with cutting-edge digital equipment and concepts. Guests can expect expert panel discussions with designers, makers, and hackers as well as hands-on breakout sessions featuring demonstrations of 3D printers, laser cutters and milling devices. Apple will be conducting workshops on Swift Coding for students. There are only 50 slots for the Discovery Place Education Studio session which provides hands on demonstrations so registration is required, here https://tinyurl.com/ydcmq62z. Organizers will also provide individualized 15-20 minute “speed-sessions” so attendees can have their own maker-specific questions and concerns addressed. Guests are encouraged to bring photos, illustrations, floor plans, or curriculum--whatever may enhance the discussion. No registration is necessary for other sessions; simply email Dr. Chantell McDowell at cmcdowell@jcsu.edu stating interest in other sessions. A full agenda will be posted on the library's website, https://library.jcsu.edu/. This will be a day of priceless learning, networking opportunities and enrichment. The event is open to educators, students, librarians, alumni, CMS teachers, and community members. For any questions, please contact Dr. Chantell McDowell, collection development librarian and instructional technology coordinator, at cmcdowell@jcsu.edu or Monika Rhue, director of Library Services, at mrhue@jcsu.edu. DETAILS: Date: April 13, 2018 8 am-4 pm Cost: Free and open to the public Special: Register for Discovery Place sessions at https://tinyurl.com/ydcmq62z. ### About Johnson C.
