with Chevrolet, is kicking off the third year of Discover the Unexpected
(DTU) scholarship and journalism fellowship for students attending
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

The 2018 DTU program provides six HBCU students an opportunity to
travel across several states discovering and reporting inspirational, and
positive stories.

The DTU Fellows will:
œ each receive a $10,000 scholarship and a $5,000 stipend
œ have access to a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox for their reporting
assignments
œ work alongside experienced NNPA staff at The Washington
Informer, The Atlanta Voice, The Norfolk Journal & Guide, and The
New York Amsterdam News in four-week intervals
œ receive regular mentoring from the DTU Road Trip Navigator Dana
Blair, an on-air correspondent, branding expert, and entertainment
producer ( www.justdanablair.com )

This is the first year the program is open to all 106 HBCU. In 2016, DTU
fellowships were offered to students attending Howard University. Last
year, the program expanded to include Clark Atlanta University,
Morehouse College and Spelman College.

To date, Chevroletfs DTU
scholarship awards along with stipends total more than $300,000.
