DESCRIPTION
The Division of Physical Sciences Student Success Center (to be formally developed by incumbent and appropriately named) is intended to foster an inclusive, diverse, supportive environment for all undergraduate and graduate students in our three large departments. Goals of the Center, when created, include development of programs and initiatives that promote the academic success of all Division of Physical Sciences (DPS) students, including professional development programs and support (including major emphasis on industrial relationships for internships and employment), summer programs, retention programs, mentoring programs, student organization support, and more. The Center aims to develop these goals in close collaboration with faculty, alumni, and industry partners to answer the much-needed demand of our significant student population.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean and work direction of the faculty director, the Director of Programs and Operations is responsible for developing, leading and managing the Student Success Center to deliver student developmental services across the Division's entire student body. The Director will be responsible for creation of the Center (development and implementation of mission and supporting programs) under the guidance of the faculty director, Dean, and Associate/Assistant Deans.
The Director provides strategic planning and leadership to fulfill the overall goals of the Center, including the development, diversity, enrichment, inclusion and retention of Physical Sciences students. The Director is charged with coordinating the existing resources available for DPS students, as well as developing new resources and programs in support of its goals.

• Occasional overtime may be requested including evenings and/or weekends.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• With supervisor and other leaders, execute a strategic plan for the Center that reflects the Division's commitment to student experience.



Review, analyze, and summarize organizational strategic plan in order to align the Dean’s Office strategic plans with that of the organization and ensure that all initiatives serve to advance organizational objectives. Initiate, develop and implement short and long-range unit goals, objectives, and initiatives and monitor progress of initiatives and objectives.
• Overall responsibility for coordinating, developing and promoting initiatives to advance the diversity, enrichment, inclusion and retention of all DPS students. Develop and implement a plan for analyzing retention issues affecting the Division, with special attention to diversity. Help develop new models and initiatives, both short and long term, that will support and retain a diversified student population.
• Support the faculty director in submitting and monitoring annual Center administrative budget, project anticipated future expenses, and provide recommendations to faculty director on budget needs.
• Independently analyze DPS student diversity needs. Develop and implement innovative initiatives in concert with Deans and the Center faculty director. Ensure effective implementation, evaluation, and communication of results.
• Facilitate development and implementation of professional development programs including job fairs, job/internship solicitation and posting, advisory group development, annual meetings, mentorship, etc.
• Develop and implement summer bridge, tutoring, peer mentoring programs and similar initiatives utilizing available programs/resources and developing new avenues for achieving these goals.
• Ensure that the Center provides leadership, support, and advice to the various student organizations as needed.
