Posted By: Gail Birks, EMBA, LMBB, IATA on July 20, 2018 Building a Legacy called Being Prepared Since 2016, I have had the honor to bring my universe of Lean Six Sigma to Bethune Cookman University's CEED Center offering Lean Six Sigma (all levels), Project Management Preparatory Workshops, and Entrepreneurship Classes to its Students and Faculty as well as the local business community. As an HBCU graduate, I know first hand the importance of BEING READY!!!! I saw first hand how it started to change the mind set of the students who were in our Certification Excursion. OMG.. WOW!!! Confidence Levels rose through the stratosphere. And I realized that if I can catch the students in their freshmen or sophomore year, maybe we could send them out as young leaders in business and industry totally equipped. Not only have the students benefited, but the business owners and faculty/staff who participated also benefited from the experience sharpening their tools. I have wondered for years how I could give back to the institution that contributed to who I am today and this is it. It was an HBCU that gave me the confidence to be the best I can be, and this is now my legacy. I just want to pass it on to my future.
