Posted By: Hija Chang on August 27, 2018 Position: Senior Program Manager of Career Success Reports to: Senior Director of Programs Supervise: 2 Full Time Internships and Career Success Assistants and 1 Part-Time Graduate Assistant Status: Full-time Exempt Start Date: September 2018 The Job The Opportunity Network is looking for a driven and dynamic individual to join our collaborative Career Success team. The Senior Program Manager, Career Success, will oversee the generation, preparation, and placement of summer opportunities for all Fellows. The Senior Program Manager will create a strategic plan to provide offerings that align with student interests and career trends, while taking into account the organization’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) objectives. The Senior Program Manager will also create sustainable in-house programming offerings related to career success. This role will collaborate with the other Program Managers on workshops to ensure students are receiving guidance on summer and post college opportunities. The Senior Program Manager, Career Success, will also work to help Fellows identify career exploration strategies that support their career goals. The position is located in downtown Manhattan. The Person The ideal candidate will personally connect to the important work we do and value diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) across the organization. The candidate will demonstrate an awareness of the needs and challenges faced by high school and college-level students from historically underserved and underrepresented communities. The candidate will demonstrate DE&I values by actively participating in all organizational-wide learning sessions and self-reflection as well as working with others to enact changes that contribute to meeting the organization’s DE&I goals. The candidate should be excited to join a team looking to influence more diverse, equitable and inclusive practices among employment and workforce development practices. The candidate should possess outstanding professionalism and discretion, organization and attention to detail, energy and initiative, the ability to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks on time, and a willingness to work on a wide range of assignments. Responsibilities Summer Opportunities • Employer Relations o Take the lead on employer relations with all high school and college employer and enrichment partners o Negotiate on behalf of OppNet to secure cost-sharing agreements with enrichment or employment partners • OppNet’s Proprietary Summer Enrichment Program o Create and manage in-house summer opportunities programming ▪ Identify program areas and partners to provide programming ▪ Recruit and hire Teaching Assistants ▪ Work with the Career Success team to recruit and enroll student participants ▪ Create key performance indicators and metrics for in-house programming • Application Management o Manage the Career Success team to oversee the enrichment and internship application process (high school & college) o Work with the Development team to secure donor letters for summer opportunities Student Engagement • Leverage Career Success Team to work with the Student Services and Program Operations Team to create and hone student communication and application systems Career Transition Curriculum • Work in partnership with the Program Manager, Curriculum, Training, and Student Events, to hone and develop career transition curriculum that aligns with the OppNet’s established Career Fluency® curriculum Data-Driven Practices • Create dashboards and data visualization templates for career success related data • Understand program data to drive continuous improvement and decision-making • Ability to run basic data reports to gather intel through data analysis Overall Program Support • Participate in Career Fluency facilitation training • Serve as a workshop facilitator for Career Success related events • Facilitate annual intensive programming and special events as required, e.g. Summer Institute, College Application Boot Camp, College Transition Boot Camp, Speed Networking, and Career Fluency® panels • Partner with other Program Managers to refine OppNet competency model • Serve as a chaperone for college and other field trips, as necessary • Work alongside other program teams to pitch in, as necessary Click this link to view and apply for this job!
