Posted By: How May I Help You NC on September 24, 2018 The History program, within the Department of History and Political Science, at the University of Southern Maine seeks to hire a tenure track Assistant Professor of United States History, to begin in the fall of 2019. We seek an historian of Colonial America and the Early Republic who specializes in one (or more) of the following fields: Native American History/Studies, the History of Women and Gender, and/or the History of Slavery. Teaching responsibilities include: the US History survey courses (Colonial to Modern), upper level courses in the Colonial and early-National period, and upper level courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Candidates must have (or be willing to acquire) expertise in online teaching. Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee the department’s undergraduate History internship program and is expected to actively engage with the local community. The department also sponsors an interdisciplinary minor in Race and Ethnic Studies and would welcome candidates whose teaching and research fields align with the minor.
