Alabama State University Hosting "Meet the Candidates Mid-Term Forum" Oct. 16, at 6 p.m
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on October 02, 2018

WHEN: Oct. 16 (Tuesday) at 6 p.m.
WHERE: ASU's Hardy Student Center Theater (second floor).

The invitations are now in the mail to all officially qualified candidates seeking office in the upcoming and much talked about Mid-Term Elections that takes place on the first Tuesday in November (Nov. 6) to participate in Alabama State University's "Meet the Candidates Mid-Term Forum."

In the spirit of "CommUniversity" (bringing the community and the University together) Alabama State University is hosting a statewide political candidates forum (from statewide to locally elected positions) where the River Region and the Montgomery community can come and hear directly from those seeking elected office, and thus make an informed decision on how to vote.

TOWN-HALL STYLE EVENT
This town-hall type event is titled “Meet the Candidates Forum,” and it will be held on Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. on the campus of Alabama State University in the ASU Hardy Student Center's theater, which is located on its second-floor.

The free and open to the public event is sponsored by ASU's Department of History and Political Science in conjunction with Pi Sigma Alpha (National Political Science Honor Society)and Alabama State University's College Democrats.

We ask the news media to 'preview' this event now and as it unfolds with both our political/history scholars at ASU, as well as the students who are helping host it.

FORMAT & FOUNDATION OF EVENT
The format of this event will allow for any officially qualified candidate to address the audience on important topics and to answer questions from the community regarding their political platforms, agendas, and goals. The sponsors of this event believe that this program's foundation will provide an opportunity for the ASU community and the greater Montgomery community to interact with each other, and with both incumbent elected officials and first-time office seekers, to discuss the issues.

- The hosts at ASU believe it is important to build bridges so more people will vote, and discuss the issues with decorum, and without rancor or malice -

For more information or to sign-up as a qualified candidate, please contact: Dr. Alecia D. Hoffman (coordinator of the event/ASU assistant professor of Political Science at 334-229-4001 or via email at ahoffman@alasu.edu
