The opening celebration included free health screenings as well as free over-the-counter medicines, such as cold and cough medicine, Band-Aids, allergy medications and vitamins. The clinic, which is open to the public as well as the faculty, staff and students, was created by the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences to provide clients with affordable physical health care and mental health care services. Clients may receive physical health screenings, dietary assessments, psychological and educational assessments, fitness assessment and training, weight management consultation, health education seminars, CPR certification classes and DWI courses. "It's a great opportunty for students, as well," said Jessica Miller, a graduate student in psychology. "We can get our practicum experience without leaving campus." Students working under the supervision of licensed faculty members will assist in dietary counseling, psychological assessments and other services. http://www.nccu.edu/ If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
