Posted By: Ivan Butcher II on October 15, 2018 As the developer, partnering with the St. Croix Hiking Association and the Virgin Islands Pace Runners, hosting the 2018 Seniors' Walking Games, we are extending the opportunity and request for your support and contribution to the success of this event. Scheduled for this Thanksgiving Weekend - Nov. 24 - 25, 2018, the seniors' walking competition will be fashioned to operate just as if it were a typical track and field meet, but without the running for seniors' age groups ( 50's - 60's-70's - 80's-up ) Although this event has no prior history, making it a first of its kind, this activity will enhance our tourism offerings, directly attract visitors, and also provide a positive national/international image for the Territory. Thus in turn would provide measurable returns on your contribution. This is a planned annual event. It is late to start putting together a booklet to commemorate the 2018 Seniors' Walking Games. The more feasible option is to put the sponsors names / logos on the back of the tee shirts. This year's sponsors will be named and featured in the promotions commemorating and leading up to next year's seniors' games. Fund Raising Causes The St. Croix Hiking Assoc.: The upgrading of The Estate Adventure Nature Trail to be accessible for those with disabilities. ( The funding for the establishment of The Estate Adventure Nature Trail was through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.) The Virgin Islands Pace Runners: To enhance the options and the opportunities, for our top athletes to be able to travel abroad, to train and to compete in some of the qualifying meets throughout the year. The seniors' walking competition is an excellent venue to encourage walking for a healthier lifestyle for seniors over 50, and to promote the goals of both nonprofit organizations. Sponsoring with these two well established nonprofit organizations here on St. Croix will assure the professional execution of The Seniors' Walking Games - 2018. Dec. 1, 2019, that Farmers in Action are hosting their 4th Annual Coconut Festival of Events.
