If you have not already heard about the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), below is information that will help you understand who we are. We are the premier organization for cultivating black engineers and our mission is “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers, who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.”

What does our mission mean? That means throughout the year, we help collegiate STEM majors graduate through academic programming such as Guaranteed 4.0. We help professional engineers attain technical and leadership training from leaders in their field through our Special Interest Groups (SIG). We impact the community by outreach programs such as A Walk for Education to increase awareness of engineering in impoverished areas. Lastly, we host conferences to unite all the various STEM fields to excel.

This year, Region VI 2018 Fall Regional Conference (FRC) will be hosted at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on November 9th-11th. FRC is the NSBE’s vehicle to bring together officers, leaders, and members of the western states (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, NM, NV, OR, ID, MT, UT, WA, WY) in a centralized location to conduct the business of NSBE by reporting the year’s goals and initiatives, and to disseminate information to the membership at large. This year’s theme is “Engineer. Elevate. Explore.”.

This year we would like to extend an invite you and your team to join our NSBE family at FRC. During FRC, we will have 3 tracks for professional content: Elevate Professional Development, Personal Growth, Engineering Technical Development.

The Engineering Technical Development track contains sessions such as Cyber Security Training Sponsored by Palo Alto Networks and Microsoft Azure Training. In the Personal Growth track we have sessions such as our Being Professional and Authentic executive panel, and a wealth management workshop. Lastly, in our Elevate Professional Development track we have a How to get LINKED-IN to Social Media workshop and The 90 Day Rule workshop sponsored by Palo Alto Networks. We also opportunities to network at events such our Region VI Soul Lounge.

As you have noticed, we have professional training for attendees at all levels. We strive for every attendees to have the opportunity to attend workshops geared toward professional development, growth, and technical development. We are hoping that you will find the skills presented in the workshops that we are providing to serve as a platform for your organization.
I would like to update you on some important information during the planning process:
