Posted By: Hija Chang on October 16, 2018 The position involves supporting the Psychology Editor. A background in the social sciences is helpful but is by no means required. Essential Job Responsibilities: • Management of manuscripts in all stages of production — Sending manuscripts to be reviewed by college instructors. Setting and adhering to schedules. Formatting manuscripts for copyediting and production. Creating art manuscripts and art logs for development. Filing and submitting reprint corrections in accordance with manuscript editorial process. • Communication management — Professionally interacting with authors, college faculty, marketing, and sales staff to relay messages, follow-up on requests/information, and in general, anticipating when to proactively act on messages (including relaying messages with a sense of urgency). • Project management — Collaborating with and providing support to editorial team to move numerous different projects forward to meet publishing deadlines. Scheduling book team meetings and taking minutes of the proceedings. • Document management — Creating and editing Excel and Word documents to support projects and/or office responsibilities. Copying, printing, and scanning office documents. Organizing and maintaining files. • Auditing and expense management — Applying for book ISBN numbers and copyright data. Checking textbook and e-book prices across sources. Monitoring manuscript budgets and requesting remunerations (such as for manuscript reviewers). • Data management — Extracting data from internal web-based information portals.
