The 7 Best Academic Programs for Military Veterans
|
Posted By: Dixie Somers on November 20, 2018 Those serving in the United States military receive education grants that they can use to go to school. Most members receive $4,500 per year of active service, and they may also be eligible for other educational payment help. While the military member has many unique choices on where they want to go to school, here are seven academic programs that veterans may want to consider. Wilmington UniversityWilmington University in New Castle, Delaware allows military members to earn their bachelor or master's degree online in unique seven-week courses. They also accept many types of credit that members may have earned in the military. University of MarylandThe University of Maryland offers both online and hybrid undergraduate courses—allowing those who have served or are currently serving in the military to spend less time away from their family. Also, they offer reduced tuition rates for military members, letting people earn their undergraduate degrees for free. This helps make the University of Maryland one of the best online colleges for military. University of FloridaThe University of Florida has three offices dedicated to helping veterans succeed in school. Additionally, the University of Florida gives all active military members stationed in Florida in-state tuition fees. They also offer other types of tuition assistance for those that are no longer active military. North Carolina State UniversityMilitary members can earn over 90 asynchronous degree, diploma, and licensure programs at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. This college that also offers several online courses regularly hosts special military hiring events where students can meet with veteran-business owners. Texas A&M UniversityMilitary students can get special assistance in filling out their college applications at Texas A&M University. Students can receive up to 150 credit hours for their military experience. Veterans also have access to numerous support programs online, in the community and on campus. Northeastern UniversityThe Northeastern University campus in Boston, Massachusetts, has built a special center just to help military members transition from service to student. The college boasts a 90 percent hire rate for graduated students—which can happen faster because the college gives credit for many things the service member did in the military. University of Southern CaliforniaThe University of Southern California works closely with members of the military—including those that are actively deployed—to help them complete their required coursework. Military academy coursework usually transfers here for full credit. If you are a service member, the spouse, or a dependent of one, then make sure to check out these seven unique programs. You may be able to graduate with a variety of degrees without paying for it. Contact the school of your choice for more details.
