Monica Brown I pray that you young ladies would value your mothers while they are still here. It would be tragic to desire to have been closer to them after they are already gone. There are a lot of children of mothers that are long gone that feel this way. I'm sure you would say she should feel the same, but as newly 'grown folks' you will need to learn that you can only and will only be responsible for your own actions unless you are custodian of a minor (in which case you will be responsible for theirs, too). Monique Pearce North Carolina Central University class of 2010 Well, I understand I am not close to my mother at all. I meant I love her and would do anything for her but I am in the same position she values my brother and everyone else. I meant all you can do is pray for her and pray for yourself times are hard and yes we should value everyone dear to us but we can only value them as much as they will let us. But also mothers should learn how to value their daughters as well. Raquel Morgan None at None I feel your pain I am in the same situation with my mom. And it feels as if she is unsupportive, but at the same time I am doing something that she never had a chance to do I am GRADUATING high school AND going to college. I just got another acceptance letter TODAY (yay!) and I let my mom read and she had such a bland expression on her face. I was looking forward to her eyes lighting up but who was I kidding. Im playing it cool with my mother right now but i feel she is only interested in the gossip of my day...all I can say is try not to push her away but maybe be more firm with her about your decision to go away...atleast thats what Im doing. Seneca Malone Virginia State University class of 2010 well i'm not goin to put you down for pushing her away but she is your mother you should have to desire to be close to her she's not always going to be around...thats how it was with my mom, we were so different but as i got older we took more time together we started doing lunch goin to hair appointments talking with one another and now i realize how alike we really are....just have that desire and dont push your mom away... *Seneca* Saturday, July 8th 2006 at 6:44PM
