About Carlos Martin: Carlos Martin aka King Jaquell Martin is a native of Benton Harbor, MI. In high school he was athletically astute and excelled in every area of sports. From Track and Field to the football field. He also developed a keen interest in dramatic arts but placed his pursuit of it on hold until he completed his service with the U.S. Armed Forces. King enlisted in the United States Army with a passion to serve his country and make a better life for himself and his family. Being a high achiever, he moved up the ranks to sergeant and held his position until an unforeseen and challenging incident brought him face to face with age old discrimination born of ignorance and racial hatred. This experience inspired him to write his freshman biography, A War on Friendly Grounds. A piece fitting the current narrative in our country surrounding unfair racial practices and bias found in the military and police force. After completing his term in the armed services, King enrolled at the Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown Acting Studio, a prestigious two-year intensive Meisner training program in Santa Monica, CA. It didn’t take him long to book his first episodic role on Investigation Discovery Channel’s Wives with Knives as well as booking national commercials. Currently, King is pursuing a career in filmmaking as a director at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, CA. As an author, he wants A War on Friendly Grounds to be a welcoming bridge between the public and police department.
