Children or adults who really run things

Posted By: JOSHUA SMITH on April 06, 2006 Hmmmmmm let me say this in leu of recent incidents I've observed while in the grocery store and I havent been very happy I am noticin that children are makin the rules for themselves and tellin their parents what they are going to and not going to do now here is what I saw and didnt like at all this kid was about 9 or 10 and she was walkin through walmart and she wanted fruit roll ups and her mom said no and then the little girl picked up the box of fruit roll ups and threw it and hit her mom in the head and as if it wasnt enough her mom didnt say anything then the little girl bit her mother on the leg because she was so angry and even after this the mother was like calm down I'll get you some fruit roll ups. Now how many of us on this site can say they evr pulled some stuff like that and didnt get killed by their parent(s). my question to everyone why do you think that parents are scared to discipline their children and if that was you and your child did that what would you have done to her?????? These days it seems that children are definitely running things, parents need to get back to the old school way with these children. Parents are scared because they dont want to go to jail for disciplining their kids so whats happening in turn is that the children are committing crimes and going to jail,on drugs,thieves etc. due to the lack of respect for authority. Furthermore if I was that childs mother I would have whooped her in the store and dared someone to call the police (seriously I do that with my niece and sister, cause no child is gonna embarass me or rule me , im the adult).Now don't get it twisted im not saying abuse a child im just saying a stern rebuke may be called for at times. I got spankings when I was smaller and I cant believe that im saying it now but im soo glad that I did because it let me know that there are certain boundaries that just are not meant to be crossed. That was a good topic that you brought to the table

When I was younger, my mother hit me if I even opened my mouth to talk back to her. Some parents are afraid to discipline their children but they don't know that it will come back to bite them in the butt. You're not supposed to be your child's playmate or friend. Parents need to put boundaries
