Actor Terrence J offers Summer Internship

Posted By: How May I Help You NC on June 10, 2019 Recently, five Virginia State University students were selected to participate in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s newly re-designed Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program “The Pitch 2019”. As part of TMCF’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Division, the program seeks to sharpen the entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurship skills and experience into the African-American community with historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) as the central hubs. The selected scholars were tasked with developing solutions to business, social or educational problems and then pitching their ideas to a panel of expert judges comprised of entrepreneurs, small business owners, executives, venture capitalists and other investors. “Opportunities like The Pitch 2019, are immensely valuable in giving our entrepreneurial-minded HBCU students the tools to succeed,” said Harry L. Williams, TMCF president & CEO. “I am thankful to our partners and proud of all the students that competed. This is a springboard into a very promising future for these young innovators.” The VSU students who participated were Evans Genece, a business management major; Jaelon Hodges, a mass communications major; Catera Ruth, a computer information systems major: Tiara Jasey, a management major; and Steven McAlester, a marketing major. In a surprise announcement, one Trojan was offered a summer internship of a lifetime. Actor Terrence J offered VSU junior Jaelon Hodges an exclusive summer internship with his management company, Sunset Park Productions, in Los Angeles, CA. “I am beyond blessed,” Hodges said. “When Terrence J announced I won the internship, I actually thought they said someone else’s name but once I realized everyone was cheering and looking at me I started smiling. Terrence J told me he liked how I was entertaining and could get the crowd’s attention with my personality. Before this, I was at a point where I didn’t know if I wanted to continue with my passion for entertainment and television but it looks like God had other plans for me that day. I am excited to go to Los Angeles for this amazing opportunity to succeed at something I love! I will represent my HBCU to the fullest.” http://www.vsu.edu/ If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
