Nestlé & HBCU CONNECT Partner to Bring Career Opportunities to Black and Latino Professionals in the Cleveland, Ohio Mar

Posted By: Will Moss on October 29, 2019

Last month, global foods giant Nestlé teamed up with HBCU Connect in the Cleveland suburb of Solon, Ohio to organize a networking event with the purpose of recruiting diverse professionals with experience in Research & Development, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Operations Management, and other areas.

Nestlé committed to job interviews for qualified attendees. The event took place on Wednesday, October 9th, from 5:30 to 7:30pm at Nestlé's Bainbridge building. Unlike many other events that are held at hotels or conference venues, this gathering was held at Nestlé's Solon, Ohio campus. HBCU Connect reached out to HBCU grads, as well as Black and Latino professionals in Cleveland, Akron, and throughout Northeastern Ohio to attend the event.

Nestlé , at their Bainbridge Road facility, hosted approximately 50 potential candidates at the reception, which was catered with an impressive spread of appetizers and beverages. Nestlé recruiters and executives were on hand to meet with the participants and talk about the company’s history, culture, and opportunities.

Known for much more than Nesquik chocolate milk mix, Nestlé is the world’s largest food and beverage company. The company was founded in 1866 in Switzerland and now operates worldwide. Nestle has many social initiatives, including “The Cocoa Plan” efforts which focus on Africa’s Ivory Coast.

“This event is a little bit different because we actually hosted the event at the Nestlé facility in Solon, Ohio, which had some advantages over simply renting a hotel meeting room,” said Will Moss, founder of HBCU Connect.

“One thing that impressed me was Nestlé's commitment to matriculate qualified attendees into the formal interview process. That goes above and beyond the usual meet-and-greet.”

During the gathering, a “speed networking” session was held, where participants got a chance to meet and speak with a cohort of Nestlé managers, executives and recruiters. This way, potential candidates really had the opportunity to learn about Nestle from different perspectives, but more importantly, it allowed each participant a chance to talk to hiring managers from multiple departments, across several functional areas.
