After graduating from Agnes Scott College with a BA in International Relations, Ms. Barard began her career in Washington DC as a computer graphic artist. She later relocated to Latin America where she pursued the cultural study of African Traditional Religions. After returning to the States, Ms. Barard continued with her graphic design career, received additional certifications, and provided technical training to corporate, education, and government clients. In 2012, Ms. Barard founded Urban Book Editor LLC, a company serving self-published authors of all genres. Ms. Barard has written and contributed to both non-fiction and poetry books. She is a co-author of 20 Beautiful Women, Vol 3 and author of Editing Your Book for Self-Publishing: A Practical Guide for Authors. Writing under her pen name, Michelle Bishop, she published Love & Other Monsters, a book of poetry examining love from the perspectives of three women at different stages of life. All of her books can be found at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other booksellers. Ms. Barard also is the host of Somewhere in the Middle with Michele Barard, a podcast exploring the intersection of life, love, family, culture, politics, and business. She recently relocated to the Los Angeles metro area where she serves her clients through writing, editing, and business and time management coaching.
