Posted By: How May I Help You NC on December 23, 2019 The School of Environment & Sustainability at Western Colorado University seeks an interdisciplinary applied scientist for a tenure track position directing our Master in Environmental Management (MEM) in Sustainable & Resilient Communities (SRC) program, while focusing on collaborative strategies for regional, national, and global climate actions. Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in the MEM Core including the Science of Climate Mitigation & Adaptation, teaching relevant graduate electives and 1-2 relevant courses per year in the Environment and Sustainability undergraduate major; mentoring Master’s students; actively recruiting for the undergraduate and graduate programs; co-conducting two intensive residencies for MEM students each summer; and general campus service. Successful candidates will teach 12-24 (depending upon leadership roles) annual credits. This is a 12-month commitment, with $15,000-$16,500 summer stipend on top of base salary. Benefits include an employee/employer shared contribution retirement plan and life and health insurance. After one year of employment, dependents qualify for tuition waivers to attend Western. START DATE: July 1, 2020 QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental or Sustainability Studies, or a relevant field with an interdisciplinary focus on inclusive climate action planning and implementation required before July 1, 2020. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to and evidence of: • program building, fund-raising, and professional networks for the SRC MEM, • community-based pedagogy, • a commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity, • transdisciplinary approaches to environmental problem-solving, • experiential and professional education, • excellence in teaching in the classroom, online, and with blended learning, • mentoring Preference given to candidates with experience bringing multiple forms of diversity to sustainability programs and organizations.
