Posted By: How May I Help You NC on January 07, 2020 St. Mark’s School of Texas seeks an experienced math educator to join our Upper School faculty for the 2020-2021 school year. A strong candidate will be a compassionate, student-centered teacher with knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent boys. Additionally, candidates will have a substantive command of mathematical concepts across the range of topics, specifically AP Statistics and precalculus. Candidates will demonstrate experience using a range of teaching methods, and will possess a joy for teaching and the habits of lifelong learning. Strong candidates will design lessons that lead to mastery of concepts and skills with and without technologies (graphing calculator, iPad applications, appropriate software, etc.). Additionally, successful candidates will develop lesson plans using a variety of teaching methods. Lessons should include multiple representations of concepts, including verbal, graphical, numerical, and analytic. Candidates must communicate mathematics in a clear and expressive manner, using correct terminology and notation. Beyond the classroom, faculty at St. Mark’s participate in a variety of activities with students that include serving as an Advisor to a small group of students, coaching a sport, sponsoring a club, or participating in the Wilderness Program. Successful candidates will have experiences and interests that allow them to contribute in those areas of school life, as well. Finally, St. Mark’s School of Texas is committed to character and leadership education, and prospective faculty members should have a desire to help develop these qualities in young men alongside the delivery of math content. Responsibilities Teaching four or five sections of math at the upper school level (AP Statistics, Precalculus, and similar) Working cooperatively with colleagues in the math department to create, revise, and improve curriculum as well as end-of-course tests for those courses Possible involvement with a math team Participating in the character and leadership education program Contributing to the broader community in some way such as sponsoring a club, participating in the wilderness program, coaching an athletic sport, or some other contribution based on School need and experience Click this link to view and apply for this job!
