Posted By: How May I Help You NC on January 08, 2020 UC San Diego Director of Residential Experience Filing Deadline: Thu 1/16/2020 Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience The Director of Residential Experience serves as part of the Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) Executive Council reporting to the Executive Director of HDH with a dotted line to the VC Student Affairs(VCSA) portfolio. UC San Diego is a highly collaborative campus with a high level of integration across portfolios, and this position will be even better positioned for success by being affiliated not just to HDH but to the VCSA, ensuring full alignment with the University work to develop a holistic student experience. This position focuses on enhancing student experience and increasing student engagement in the residential communities while working in close collaborations with the Colleges and the Division of Student Affairs in on-going consultation with colleges and Provosts on matters related to residential experience. The Director leads HDH in on-going assessment practices, program review, and dissemination/presentation critical to the mission and strategic plan of HDH. Responsible for establishing an on-going, systematic program of assessment and evaluation essential to supporting the long-term growth of HDH. The Director ensures the departmental assessment of projects is meaningful and provides quality information for decision-making and evaluations that speak to the value and impact of programs. This position oversees the residential experience programming and staffing budget of $3 million. This Director supervises the positions and portfolios of Associate Director of Residential Success and Community Development (transfer, upper divisions and graduate and family housing), Sustainability Coordinator, Wellness Engagement Manager, and Craft Center. Formulates policies and procedures for the function. Develops the long and short term organizational goals of the unit. Represents the program internally and externally. Manages the operating budget and human resources of the program. Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 7 divisions, with approximately 700 career employees, 1000 to 1200 student employees and an annual operating budget of greater than $189 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 15,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff and their families in over 400 buildings covering approximately 6 million sq. ft. HDH is in the midst of implementing an aggressive building plan which will add 5000 new beds and almost double our square footage by 2021. Currently, HDH houses 38% of UCSD’s enrolled students with a goal of housing 50% in the near future. HDH provides maintenance and repair, contract meals/meal plan management, as well as retail food service, conference services and catering services to residents, students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
