Travel as a Student for Competitions? Here's 4 Tips
|
Posted By: Lizzie Weakley on February 06, 2020 Traveling as a student for competitions is exciting and a way to compete in your favorite sports or other extracurricular activities. However, competitions can quickly become tedious and overwhelming if you feel stressed out or frazzled throughout the travel process itself. If you are a student who frequently travels for competitions, here are 4 tips to keep in mind to help make your next competitive trip as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. Research Your Destination Ahead of TimeAlways take the time to research your travel destination ahead of time. If you are traveling abroad, be sure to familiarize yourself with currencies, languages spoken, as well as other cultural elements you should respect while entering the space as a tourist or visitor. If you are simply traveling across state lines, it is still highly advisable to familiarize yourself with local attractions, monuments, highways, major freeway exits, hotels, and other locations you may visit or need during your stay. Organize Transportation or a CarpoolIf you intend to travel with others during your next student competition, organize a carpool or opt for taking a bus or a larger form of transportation, depending on the number of students who are traveling with you. Using a carpool or a larger mode of transportation can ultimately help with saving on gas or vehicle mileage. Pack Your Bags EfficientlySpend time planning what you intend to pack and bring with you to your next competition. Avoid over packing or cluttering your suitcase by taking the time to plan individual outfits you intend to wear ahead of time. Consider rolling your clothing to help minimize wasted space and bulkiness if you are traveling with only one bag or suitcase. If you are entering a dance competition, consider searching for competition dance bags that are designed for travel and dance-specific accessories and gear. Investing in a bag designed for competitions and travel can help to greatly reduce stress and anxiety once you begin preparing for your next trip. Check the Weather Forecast Before DepartureCheck the weather forecast for your final destination before you travel to a competition. Prepare your vehicle with emergency kits, non-perishable foods, and seasonal emergency items in case you experience an issue while on the road. Familiarizing yourself with trip preparation, planning, and packing can help make both national and international travel a breeze. When you feel comfortable with prepping your next upcoming student competition, stress and worry less about packing and focus on what is most important during your trip.
