TRACEE ELLIS ROSS TALKS "THE HIGH NOTE" WITH TANISHA LAVERNE GRANT

Golden Globe award winning actressTracee Ellis Ross best known for her role as "Rainbow Johnson" on ABC's "Blackish" takes center stage as middle aged songstress "Grace Davis" in "THE HIGH NOTE" a brand new film out of Focus Features which premieres due to coronavirus at home on demand May 29th. In an interview with multi award winning entertainment journalist and red carpet correspondent Tanisha LaVerne Grant who talks about her own anticipation of seeing Tracee in a glamorous role similar to Tracee's legendary pop star mother Diana Ross who wowed audiences as Tracey Chambers in the 1975 classic "Mahogany." Tracee Ellis Ross was sure to point out to Grant that "THE HIGH NOTE" was not an ode to Mahogany.

Set in the dazzling world of the LA music scene comes the story of Grace Davis (Tracee Ellis Ross), a superstar whose talent, and ego, have reached unbelievable heights, and Maggie (Dakota Johnson), her overworked personal assistant.  While stuck running errands, Maggie still aspires to her childhood dream of becoming a music producer. When Grace’s manager (Ice Cube) presents her with a choice that could alter the course of her career, Maggie and Grace come up with a plan that could change their lives forever.

 

The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra (“Late Night”) from a script by Flora Greeson. It is produced by Working Title Films’ Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.  The film’s executive producers are Nathan Kelly and Alexandra Loewy.
