Posted By: Will Moss on July 29, 2020 And the conversation continues, as NFL players Channing Crowder, Brandon Marshall, and Reggie Wayne argue, or shall we say 'discuss' more black athletes attending HBCUs with a proud Hampton Graduate that happened to be on the set of their IAMATHLETE Podcast. While I may be a bit biased as a Hampton University graduate and proud HBCU supporter, I think the final decision should always be up to the individual student, but I would personally love to see more talented students choosing to attend an HBCUs. At the same time Channing brought up some good points that I think the HBCUs need to address, so that their programs can stand up to their PWI counterparts. I did not play sports at the HBCU I chose to attend, but I did consider myself to be a top scholastic recruit and Hampton welcomed me in, and the rest is history. So glad I decided to attend an HBCU, how about you? If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
