Web design is a career that allows you to combine your technical and creative skills. This is a career that is in high demand. If you want to turn this hobby into a career, then you will need to take the following steps.

Develop the Necessary Skills

There are several skills that you will need to have in order to successfully build your website. You will need to know about search engine optimization, which will allow you to build a website that ranks high in the search engines. You will also need to learn the different programming languages. Most web designers have a knowledge of Flash, Javascript, HTML, and PHP programming. Additionally, you will need to know how to use a variety of graphic software programs. Many web designers are self-taught. However, there are some people who receive professional training.

Take Online Web Design Courses

Even if you are proficient at web design, it is still a good idea for to take online web design courses. Not only will you be able to polish your skills, but you can also earn a certification.



Adobe Certified Expert, General Assembly Bootcamp and Google Mobile Web Specialist are some of the certifications that you can earn.

Create a Website

You should have your own website. The website will allow you to showcase your skills. You will also be able to tell potential clients your rates and availabilities. It is important for you to update your website on a regular basis.

Market Yourself

Regardless of whether you want to work for a company or have your own business, you will need to market yourself. You can use your social media pages to promote your work. You can also build your own professional profile on LinkedIn. Not only should you be looking for jobs and clients, but you should also try to connect with web designers. Building relationships with other web designers can help you find job opportunities. You will also be able to stay up-to-date with what is going on with the industry.

If web design is what you love, then you can easily turn it into a career. However, it is important for you to develop the necessary skills. It is also a good idea for you to take online web design courses. Additionally, you will need to market yourself and create your own website.
