Posted By: Will Moss on December 14, 2020 HBCU CONNECT is proud to announce two new paid fellowship opportunities that we would like to present to the African American community and HBCU community to take advantage of. Please share these opportunities with anyone you know that might be looking for a paid fellowship. Gulf Research Program Early-Career Research Fellowship: $75,000 The NASEM Gulf Research Program is accepting applications for the 2021 GRP Early-Career Research Fellowship Track 1: Human Health and Community Resilience. For the 2021-2023 Application Cycle, the Human Health and Community Resilience track goal focuses on contributing to the advancement of health equity in the Gulf of Mexico region or Alaska by considering the social determinants of health. The Gulf Research Program’s Early-Career Research Fellowship supports emerging scientific leaders as they take risks on research ideas not yet tested, pursue unique collaborations, and build a network of colleagues who share their interest in improving offshore energy system safety and the well-being of coastal communities and ecosystems. Gulf Research Program Science Policy Fellow: $55,000 to $65,000 The Gulf Research Program’s Science Policy Fellowship program helps scientists hone their skills by putting them to practice for the benefit of Gulf Coast communities and ecosystems. Fellows gain first-hand experience at the interface of science and policy as they spend one year on the staff of federal, state, local, or non-governmental environmental, natural resource, oil and gas, or public health agency in the Gulf of Mexico region. With the guidance of a mentor, fellows delve into activities like policy development, evaluation, restoration planning, grants management, and stakeholder outreach and learn what it takes to make scientific information not just useful but useable. Meanwhile, host offices get a talented technical expert with a fresh perspective and a new network of contacts across the Gulf of Mexico region.
