Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 15, 2020 Hampton is the latest HBCU to join Apple’s Community Education Initiative and Tennessee State University’s HBCU C2 initiative designed to increase coding and creativity experiences to HBCUs. Other schools participating include Morehouse College, Tuskegee University, Bethune Cookman University, Wiley College, Grambling State University, and Dillard University. Through this program, Apple will be supplying Hampton with equipment and personal development opportunities to ensure that students at the Virginia based institution will be fully equipped to explore, engage, and master the art of coding and creativity. In a statement about the new partnership, Hampton Computer Science Department Chair, Dr. Jean Muhammad, said, “The Department of Computer Science at Hampton University is committed to bringing technology and specifically access to coding for all throughout Hampton Roads. It is a privilege to participate with Apple and Tennessee State’s HBCU C2 initiative to ensure students within our community as well as internal to Hampton University across all disciplines. It is important that all students are prepared for the ever-rising demand of technology through learning to code and create.” If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
