College Hill Reboot at Jackson State University in the Works
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 21, 2020 It looks like the BET hit show College Hill may be returning in 2021. In a recent interview with “Tiger Talk With the 1400 Club”, football superstar Deion Sanders said that the network is planning on bringing the show back, and the first reboot season is set to feature a brand-new twist. When discussing the project, Sanders said, “BET is rebooting that… and we’re trying to do that with celebrities coming to Jackson [State University] and earning their degree. And the list of celebrities is unbelievable that are signed up already.” During the early 2000s, College Hill was a largely successful show that featured the realities of real college students living under the same roof. With the first season set at Southern University, the show went on to air for 6 seasons and followed students from Langston University, Virginia State University, and the University of the Virgin Islands. While the show garnered a lot of views during its first run on BET, it also got a lot of criticism for negatively depicting HBCU students and Black people in general.
