Longtime Football Rivals NCCU and NCAT Will Face Each Other for the Next 10 Years!
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on December 23, 2020 It’s official. The football rivalry between North Carolina Central University and North Carolina A&T will continue from 2021 to 2030! Both schools recently signed off on a 10-year football schedule agreement to ensure that these two teams will continue to battle it out on the football field for years to come. In a statement on the schedule update, NCCU Athletic Director, Dr. Ingrid Wicker McCree said, “I want to thank our colleagues at North Carolina A&T State University for partnering with us on this agreement. This game is one of the highlights of every football season for our student-athletes, alumni, and fans, so we are excited to be able to guarantee that we will meet our in-state rival on the gridiron for the next ten years.” The schedule agreement comes after NCAT announced that it would be leaving the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) starting next fall. The news had several fans wondering whether or not the tradition between the Eagles and Aggies would continue. NCAT Athletics Director assured both sides by saying, “I am happy to say that this tradition is alive and well. We look forward to this game each year. Aggies have a lot of friends and family who are Eagles, and Eagles have a lot of friends and family who are Aggies. It is truly a family feud.” If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
