Alabama State QB Drafted in 2nd Round
|
Posted By: Reginald Culpepper on April 29, 2006 Former Alabama State quarterback, Tarvaris Jackson, made history as he was selected in the second round by the Minnesota Vikings at the 64th selection of this year's NFL draft. Jackson is the first ASU quarterback ever selected and is the highest selected player in school history. What is even more impressive is the fact that he was expected to go between the third and fifth rounds. "I would be shocked to see him fall past the fourth round.", said ASU head coach Charlie Coe. Jackson stated that he did not expect to even go in the first day of Saturday's draft, but is not going to be disappointed on which round he goes. "As long as some team picks me up, I'll be fine." He joins Chad Greenway (Iowa), Cedric Griffin (Texas), and Ryan Cook (New Mexico) as part of Minnesota's new 2006 rookie class.
