How to Use a Job in Sales to Expand Your Resume and Skill Set

By working in sales, you in fact have a multitude of skills that can be useful in many different types of jobs. But to make sure employers recognize just how skilled a worker you are, it's crucial you emphasize these skills on your resume. If you're ready to expand your resume, here is how your sales job can make this happen. The Great CommunicatorBy having a sales job, you are showing the world you are in fact a great communicator. If there is one skill all employers want, it is excellence in communications with others. Whether you are working with a customer or involved in a project with fellow employees, being able to communicate your ideas clearly will often have you viewed as a leader. Solving ProblemsNo matter the situation on the job, being able to point to examples of you solving various problems will always get the attention of employer sales recruiting services. Upon establishing yourself as the go-to person to get the most difficult situations resolved, you're likely looking at promotions and a larger salary. By showing how you helped customers get the financing they needed for a purchase or perhaps how you helped them obtain a hard-to-find item, your stock will soar. CreativityContrary to what you may think, employers never tire of having employees who are skilled at thinking outside the box. In any sales job, being able to do this and use your creative thinking skills can pay off handsomely in expanding your resume. For example, if you can point to how you helped your employer develop a new sales strategy that led to increased company profits, you will become an employee who is highly-valued by everyone within your organization. Adapting to New SituationsIn the modern business world, you know how quickly things can change regarding consumer preferences and in other areas as well. By proving yourself to be a creative and adaptable problem-solver who is great at communicating with those around you, it's virtually guaranteed this skill set will get you noticed by employers far and wide.
