Spelman Student Aiyana Thompson Authors Affirmation Book to Inspire Black Girls
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on January 28, 2021 Art History major and Chicago native, Aiyanna Thompson is using her craft and artistry to inspire Black girls all over the world. With her new book, Black Girl, You Are Thompson is making sure that women and young girls that look like her know that they can accomplish any and everything they put their mind to. Thompson told the Spelman Campus Highlight that she has always been a creator and that she wanted to find a way to affirm the power of Black women and girls. “The ‘self-help’ genre has been my favorite as of late and I believe that’s why I ended up writing the book, other than the fact that God literally dropped it in my spirit.” When asked why she felt this book was so important to release now, Thompson said, “The death of Breonna Taylor was also a big push for me. This project was written out of both, my admiration of Black women, and my exhaustion as a Black woman.”The affirmation book includes 14 affirmations to inspire all those who read it. Kudos to Ms. Aiyanna Thompson for using her gift to uplift and encourage those who need it! You can find more about this book and Thompson’s other works here!
