Best Buy Takes A Stand Against Congresspeople Who Supported Capitol Insurgency

Best Buy Takes A Stand Against Congresspeople Who Supported Capitol Insurgency
Posted By: Loren Moss on February 09, 2021

Many companies “talk the talk” but very few are willing to take a stand when it may have political repercussions. Best Buy took a stand by ceasing contributions to all congresspeople who voted against certification of the 2020 presidential election last month, despite no evidence that the election had been affected by fraud.
This means that Minnesota based Best Buy will cease contributions to 147 members of congress, while continuing to support those members of the House of Representatives and the Senate who despite party affiliation, chose to support the democratic process.
It is surprisingly rare to see a company stand on principle like this, but perhaps principled management is leading to Best Buy’s success.

The company posted strong results last year even while other retailers struggled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Best Buy is also hiring and is actively seeking diversity candidates to contribute to its mission and culture. “The fact that we have good gender diversity at the top cannot hide the fact we have a lot of progress to make throughout the company from a gender standpoint and with people of color,” said Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly. “As CEOs, we have an imperative to act on this. This issue is in our hands.”
In addition to career positions in retail management, technical support and customer service, Best Buy is seeking professionals to work at its midwestern corporate headquarters. For more information or to see open positions, click here: https://hbcuconnect.com/jobs/best%20buy
