Posted By: Jason Black on February 12, 2021 February 7, 2021 Dear Colleagues, Join us for the inaugural workshop for the HBCU Data Science Consortium (HBCU-DSC). The mission of the HBCU-DSC is to promote collaboration and encourage cross-pollination of tools, data and ideas across disciplines and sectors. The Consortium aims to provide an accessible and beneficial platform within the HBCU community to promote collaboration and support the fusion of data analysis, tools, data and ideas. The two major objectives of the HBCU-DSC are to 1) grow a network of HBCU researchers focused on the development of resources, collaborations and initiatives focused on data science, and 2) to increase funding and research opportunities in data science by Consortium members and partners. The Inaugural Workshop, held virtually this year, is entitled "Building the Pillars of Data Science", and will be held on February 19-20, 2021. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST on February 19 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST on February 20. Please visit the website (http://www.hbcu-dsc.org ) for details and to register for the event. Registration is FREE! See the agenda on the website for the list of events, and the attached flyer to see the lineup of keynote speakers. During the Workshop, there will be an opportunity to submit a proposal for a small mini-grant of $5,000 for institution looking for funding to begin initial research efforts in data science or analytics at their institutions. More details on the small research grants will be presented at the event as well. Thank you, and we hope to see you there!
