The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is Looking to Hire A Field Technician. Are You The Right Candidate?
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on March 26, 2021 The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership seeks a Field Technician to provide support with the large Steigerwald Reconnection Project. The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is a non-profit, a National Estuary Program, and a collection of dedicated scientists, educators, and community members who are passionate about the Columbia River. They focus on the lower 146 miles of the Columbia River, from Bonneville Dam to the Pacific Ocean, including the tidally influenced portions of tributaries in that area. The watershed includes 28 cities, nine counties, and 45 school districts within the states of Oregon and Washington. The position runs from May 17, 2021, through October 15, 2021. All work takes place at an active construction site in Washougal, WA, and will require being outdoors in all weather conditions, navigating difficult terrain on foot, wading in flowing water, operating off-road vehicles, and conducting physically demanding fieldwork. This position offers a great opportunity to gain professional field experience to those pursuing a career in-stream or wetland restoration. This position primarily will collect and process turbidity samples, generate turbidity monitoring reports, assist with vegetation and photo monitoring, assist with fish salvage and relocation, oversee aspects of construction (primarily the installation of large woody debris), assist with regulatory compliance and reporting, and perform other duties related to the construction of the Steigerwald Reconnection Project. The intent of this position is to provide valuable experience in a variety of areas related to the design, construction, permitting, and management of large habitat restoration projects. The Estuary Partnership places a priority on applications from candidates who come from or have experience with diverse populations and underserved communities, including communities of color and low-income communities.
