by Mark Barlow, Senior Vice President, General Manager at Fidelity Investments

Moments that matter. Buying a home, getting married and planning for retirement. Helping our customers reach these milestones (and many others) is one of the most important things I’ve done in my career. It’s rewarding. It’s inspiring. And it’s truly life changing … for our customers, me, and my fellow colleagues with whom I enjoy collaborating each day.

More customers are reaching out to us more than ever before. Fidelity Investments’ operating and financial performance in 2020 was one of the best in our 75-year history as a private company. And, the pandemic this past year has had clients reaching out to us more and more for help in planning.

This strong client growth and engagement is why I’m excited to share that we’re looking for about 4,000 more customer obsessed people to join our valued team to support customers and to experience their own career growth and opportunities, plus enjoy industry-leading benefits such as flexible work options, student loan debt repayment assistance, and relief days due to the pandemic, to name a few.

This announcement comes on the heels of a year of growth, where we met our goal and hired 7,200 new U.S. associates in 2020. As we currently work to fill these new roles, we continue to focus on delivering an exemplary customer experience by seeking diverse candidates who may have experience in various industries – such as retail, hospitality, service and healthcare, in addition to financial services – who are passionate in finding innovative ways to help others.

Licensed Financial Planners: To access new and deeper pools of licensed financial planners, we are expanding our footprint across the U.S. and seeking 1,000 licensed professionals in 20+ new locations who will primarily work remotely. These new areas include Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Houston, Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, Charlotte, Orlando, Miami, Philadelphia, Detroit, Tri-State Area (New Jersey/New York/Connecticut), Baltimore, Richmond, and Washington D.C. By introducing these roles in new geographic areas, we will widen the reach of our talent pipeline for the company’s regional and investor centers to ensure continued success in meeting growing customer demand. To learn more about these roles, please visit Fidelity’s Careers website here or check out one of the many job descriptions here.

Technology Positions: As part of our long-term commitment to make the digital experience simpler and more intuitive for customers, we are also searching for 300 technologists for new, full-time positions including full stack software engineers, data scientists, mobile/IOS engineers and architecture. The new roles will join Fidelity’s existing workforce and will work in an agile environment to design solutions for the common challenges that people encounter when investing. These positions will be based in Durham, NC, Smithfield, RI, Merrimack, NH, Westlake, Texas, and Boston, Mass. when it is safe to return to an office. To explore open technology roles, please visit here.

Client-Facing Associates: To stay ahead of unprecedented customer engagement, we also continue to hire customer-facing associates this year (many who do not need licenses to be hired), anticipating adding 2,500 new associates in our regional sites – Albuquerque, NM, Covington, KY, Denver, CO, Jacksonville, FL, Merrimack, NH, Salt Lake City, UT, Westlake, TX, and Durham, NC – supporting retail, workplace and intermediary clients. These new associates will be in addition to the 5,000+ customer-facing associates hired in 2020, which was a 77 percent increase year-over-year. To see examples of job descriptions for these roles, please visit here.

Recruitment for these positions is starting immediately and expedited hiring and virtual onboarding will ensure new team members are closely integrated during the ongoing pandemic and its required restrictions. To search available positions, please visit https://jobs.fidelity.com/.

Whether you’re interested in a new career opportunity or not, you may know someone who is as passionate as us about helping others. If that’s the case, I hope you’ll help us spread the word. We can’t wait to hear from you! #FidelityAssociate
