After Nearly 20 Years, Morris Brown College Will Regain Its Accreditation!

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 14, 2021 Big news for Morris Brown students, alum, and a huge victory for the entire HBCU community: Morris Brown College is set to regain its accreditation! After nearly 20 years have passed since the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools revoked its accreditation in 2002, the Atlanta school announced yesterday that the federally-recognized Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools voted to make the school a full candidate to get back what it lost. In a statement, the President of Morris Brown College, Kevin Brown, expressed his excitement about the “new day” for the college. "We intend on making history as the first HBCU to regain its status after a 20-year hiatus and the first HBCU to have a flagged hotel on its campus for a hospitality education program," James said. "These achievements have sparked other closed HBCU’s to try again. Without the resilience, support, and prayers from the Board of Trustees, African Methodist Episcopal church, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community, we would not be here. We have so many amazing projects coming up in the pipeline that will prepare our students for academic success and jobs." A huge congratulations to Morris Brown! We are so glad that even through tough times, the school and its community have continued to fight hard to restore what was lost. We look forward to seeing what’s next for the college and we hope they come back better than ever!
