Clayton County, Georgia Has 9 Magistrate Judges— All of Them Are Black And 8 of Them Are Women!

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 14, 2021 The magistrate court in Clayton County, GA has nine judges, all of them are Black. Out of the 9 judges, 8 of them are Black women! This is the first time in the county's history to have an all-Black magistrate bench! The court's Cheif Judge Keish Wright Hill selected the judges herself and said that their competence is what made each one of them stand out, not their race. She told WSB-TV, "There were numerous applicants, and I chose the best. And this is what we have. They are phenomenal. They're hardworking, and they are fair." Even though Clayton county is a predominately Black county, there has never been this much representation on the bench. “I think that our community has not been fairly represented. And I think that is one of the things we set out to do,” Judge Latrevia Kates-Johnson said. Shoutout to these judges for making history in Clayton County and for working towards making their community a better place!
