Ice Cube Expands His 'Contract With Black America' to Highlight Issues of Black Americans and Push For Change

Ice Cube Expands His
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 19, 2021

Rapper and actor Ice Cube is using his platform to draw attention to the plight of Black Americans and to push for social and political change with his "Contract with Black America."

The original contract was announced this past summer and spurred a string of political conversations around racial and economic equality in America. Throughout the contract, Ice Cube lists several social and political issues Black Americans face every day, describes them in-depth and proposes legislative remedies and guiding principles.

Ice Cube recently announced an updated version of 'Contract with Black America' that outlines longstanding specific issues facing Black American women and the sports industry with a set of tactical solutions, along with additional updates throughout the contract.

On Ice Cube's website, he says, "This Contract With Black America was designed to start the hard conversations.

It was made to be perfected and debated. So please add comments and suggestions so we can create a better contract with America that will help create a better and more perfect Union."

"After 400 years of unequal treatment, Black Americans have had enough with 'gradual' reform in a nation that prides itself as the world’s greatest democracy. While well- intentioned solutions may have been tried; it is simply too much to ask an oppressed people to stay 'patient.' To finally create the “more perfect union” all Americans deserve, it is time for a complete paradigm shift in how we run our institutions and operate our country. While this Contract with Black America may seem radical to some, the result will be a harmonious society that benefits EVERYONE rather than the more radical alternative which is watching the great American experiment come apart at the seams."
