President Obama Teams Up With Shaq and Charles Barkley to Encourage Black People to Get Vaccinated

Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 20, 2021 It's no secret that there has been a clear push in the media to encourage Black folks to get vaccinated. While many have been open and have received the vaccine, there is still a large number of Black people who remain leary of the vaccine rollout. Our forever president, Barack Obama teamed up with basketball legends Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley to try to change that. In a PSA released on social media, the three prominent Black leaders discussed the effects of the pandemic and encouraged more Black people and young people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
In the video, President Obama says, "I appreciate you guys doing this. Part of our goal here is to make sure that everybody who’s been going through so much in COVID understands the need and the urgency of our communities getting vaccinated. Michelle and I have; we’ve been lucky." “Now, as the vaccine becomes more available, I want to make sure that our communities, particularly, African American, Latino, as well as young people understand that this will save lives and allow people to get their lives back to normal,” Obama added. “The sooner we get more people vaccinated the better off we’re going to be.” Obama also touched on the infamous Tuskeegee experiment, which remains of one the biggest reasons why so many Black people are against getting vaccinated. Never the less, President Obama, Charles Barkley, and Shaq all expressed that getting vaccinated is the best way to get through this pandemic.
