Jackson State Alum Mia Neal Becomes One of the First Black Women to Win An Oscar for Best Hair and Makeup
|
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 26, 2021 The 2021 Oscars were last night, and an HBCU grad was in the mix and made history (as per usual)! Jackson State alum Mia Neal won an Academy Award for her work in the film "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom." Neal served as wig designer and hair department chief. Mia looked gorgeous in her JSU blue as she went up to accept her award with Jamika Wilson (Viola Davis' personal hairstylist) as they made history by becoming the first Black Oscar winners in the Best Hair and Makeup category. Congratulations to Mia and Jamika on their win! If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
