Here We Go Again: Ben Carson Says Fighting for Racial Equality is 'Another Kind of Racism'

Here We Go Again: Ben Carson Says Fighting for Racial Equality is
Posted By: Kennedy Williams on April 26, 2021

If you thought the end of the Trump administration meant that we had heard the last from Former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, you thought wrong (unfortunately). Carson recently wrote an Op-Ed piece for The Washington Post sharing what he thought to be an insightful revelation, but what only turned out to be more evidence of his deeply rooted self-hatred as a Black man in America.

In the piece, Carson says that we need to stop focusing on external things we cannot change (racism) and focus more on internal things we can change like character (or lack thereof). He also said that "moving our focus from equality to equity won’t defeat racism" and argues that it is just another kind of racism. According to him, "proponents of equity see no problem with treating groups of people differently based solely on race, as long as it serves their agenda."

Let's break that down for a second. Those who actively fight racism... and want racial equality... see no problem with...

racism... as long as it serves their agenda... ???

Don't worry, I'm just as confused. Moving on.

Carson then goes on to imply that the system is not as broken as people make it out to be:

“Do we need some reforms? Absolutely. There are things that can be done, and we can do those much better if we work together rather than trying to demonize the system based on occurrences that are quite infrequent. And there are things that the police could use, for instance, that are non-lethal, that are very effective in immobilizing people. We need to move forward on those kinds of things,” Carson said on Fox News.

According to Insider, there were only 18 days in 2020 that police officers didn't shoot and kill someone. 18 DAYS. But sure, these occurrences are "quite infrequent."

So what do we take away from these ladies and gents?
Don't worry about what Ben Carson has to say about race. Or equality. Or justice. Or really anything for that matter.
